Hey sleepyhead - and what to do with the engagement ring?
In today's Sun I've written a piece on what the position you and your partner sleep in says about your romance. Just think of your sleep position as like a piece of your body language - it's ‘sleep talkin’ to you! Check it out if you have a moment, as I list the main sleep positions and their meanings.
Continuing with my pop-tastic phase I'm loving Alphabeat’s "Hole in my heart". A friend of mine saw them do a DJ set recently and they were fab. This track reminds me of Bloc Party's "Give me one more chance" from last summer - although Bloc win out between the two of them! Also listen out for Bloc Party's new track "The prayer" - will definitely grow on you.
On my slot on the Tom Dunne radio show today at 10 AM we're going to be discussing some interesting topics including an e-mail from one woman who's just got engaged. You might think everything is hunky-dory but her fiance presented her with his late mother's engagement ring - and although she's touched by this gesture it's simply not her style of ring. She doesn't want to come across as shallow and I have some advice for her.
Now here's a thought for you: dish the dirt to improve modern childhood! I had to laugh yesterday when I saw the report in some papers about "mud-fearing mothers"! When my son was about two we took him out to friend's riding school in the country to see the ponies. He toddled around happily until he tripped and toppled over into a big pile of hay and dirt. He stood up, arms apart, waving his hands saying, "dirt, mummy, dirt, mummy!"
He was clearly distressed and tearful and in that moment I realised that having been brought up a ‘central London boy’ whose only collision with "dirt" was in pretty well-kept, garden squares. This boy needed some serious dirt-exposure! My mission became dirt, dirt and more 'dirty' play for him.
And I'm not the only mum in who experienced this 'modern child phenomenon' as when I told my friends the story (which in some ways was quite funny), they all shared anecdotes about their children getting freaked out about mud. As a parent I realised then that it was my duty (as it is yours if you have young children) to make sure they have some proper dirt dished up to them.
I think it also prevents a child becoming too mollycoddled - when they're deprived of proper, dirty child's play.
Oh Cheryl - there's such a better way to be separated! Seeing Cheryl Cole wearing yet another T-shirt with a message meant for Ashley on it I instantly thought she's going down the wrong road by using childish tactics to send him messages. This is no way to handle a separation and ultimately makes her look even more foolish. Sadly she looked foolish already having forgiven Ashley so many times before for bad behaviour.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: I've got all sorts of crazy anecdotes about how separating women have done weird and wonderful things to get a message to their ex or nearly-ex. My answers is always to sit on plans for 24 hours if you're thinking up something to get back at them, or to give them a message. When you allowed yourself that cooling-off time you might think it was a rather daft idea.
Got to run, Have a wonderful day, Pam X
