Uplifting, a bit of bondage, loneliness is the new plague...
The Manics were amazing last night! Had a fantastic time - got there early so we had a great view about 30 feet from the stage. With a huge number of albums to draw from they did the perfect mix of old and new tunes. Nothing like music to uplift you!
It's Thursday so I've just posted a new "your e-mail of the week" - it's from "Rosie" whose boyfriend only gets turned on by bondage play. Check out my advice if this is happening in your relationship. Speaking bondage and S&M Rhianna's a new video is getting vetoed by lots of stations.
Yesterday there was research published on loneliness and I believe there is a new trend when it comes to being lonely - women in their 30s and 40s who work long hours and don't have a relationship struggle with loneliness.
It's terribly sad that the elderly have long been plagued with loneliness but loneliness is now "killing" the emotional well-being of thirtysomething- and fortysomething women who are distinctly cut off from good, healthy social networks.
I hear from women who have eschewed relationships for their careers (assuming they have plenty of time for a relationship in future) and for nights out with girlfriends.
Then they find many of their girlfriends settle down before them - what happened to our nights out and camaraderie? they cry inwardly. They work extremely long hours and settle for "connecting" with others on the Internet.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: I meet many who are desperately lonely in a different way than lonely ‘old spinsters’ were a generation or two ago. Many of these women are anxious, depressed and feel helpless.
They hide their true feelings from the world because often they’re in good jobs and must maintain a sense that they've conquered all areas of life - and have a satisfying personal life.
They confide in people like me that they'd do anything now to be a housewife and give it all up. If you're in this situation and feel beaten down by such loneliness then start changing your life a little bit each day. Meet up for face-to-face things with friends. Let friends know you want to be introduced to any singles. Also let trusted friends and family members know how lonely you're feeling. You don't have to be alone!
Have a good Thursday - everyday counts, Pam X
