A little bit of music helps with the chores, good news, bad news, ageism and more...
A quiet night in last night because we're socialising all weekend... over to the EastEnders where I’m considering boycotting it until they finally resolve the baby swap story. There I thought they were going to end it quickly and it's grinding all in a tortuous way.
Saturday morning chores made all the easier listening to tunes from with The XX – tomorrow’s going to be the lie-in morning as everything’s under control for the Sunday dinner we’re doing for friends. The only problem is having woken up with a dreaded cold – must’ve caught it on the plane home... little to complain about compared to a friend who's just broken her leg landing herself a hospital stay.
Earlier caught a bit of the phenomenal Fi Glover (Radio 4 - I love her voice, something soothing and comforting about it) and Arlene Phillips was heard guest - naturally age discrimination came up - good on Arlene presently choreographing The Wizard of Oz opening in a couple months. The best way to beat them is to show how talented you continue to be.
Listening to the news earlier it was interesting to hear the middle east being compared to the fall of the eastern bloc countries in the late 80s/early 90s... I continue to hope that the people of the Middle East democracy and don't replace their dictators with equally bad regimes.
Yesterday I had a bit of bad news and I could feel the "arc" of my emotions as I absorbed it, dealt with it, and finally put it out of my head... ultimately it wasn't so bad after all.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: so I was thinking that people can be overwhelmed with sadness or anger when they get bad news depending on what it is. But if only in those moments they could remember those feelings pass as they come to accept the situation. Knowing this always helps me when the bad hits - cause let's face it most people have bad and good in every week.
So I hope that might be helpful if you've had a bit of bad news. Sending a hug, Pam X
