Big-money and sex texts...
It's grey, dismal and drizzling outside my office window today - I wish I was a lottery winner and I would jet off somewhere sunny! Seems like a nice couple that won the £56 million Euro lottery but I think it should’ve been split by the top 10 winning numbers - wouldn't £5.6 million change your life forever? Yesterday ITN lunchtime news rang to see if I could come into the studio and discuss what the impact would be if you won such a vast amount of money - unfortunately I couldn't do it as I was chock-a-block with meetings. One thing's sure - it can have a surprising impact on people's lives - check out the number of lottery winners who have said it destroyed theirs!
My weekly slot on Tom Dunne's Newstalk Dublin show has been changed permanently to 10 am - do email the show if you have a dilemma. The producer's told me we have some good, meaty issues today including a woman in love who wants to have chidlren...but he doesn't want to - a huge dilemma!
Today in the Daily Star I've written about why someone like Ashley Cole would takes pix of his private parts to text. And there are loads of reasons why a man like that would - first off, he's undoubtedly proud of his body and specifically his 'package' and enjoys the thrill of showing it off. And that sort of showing-off is all well and good when it's specifically for your partner. But the fact that these texts weren't meant for wife Cheryl reveals a big ego - because most of us would never text such images to anyone else. We'd feel embarrassed to text them to someone unless it was genuinely for a good friend to laugh at. That doesn't seem to be the case here, which is why it reveals someone so caught up in their own world that they don't think about the consequences - like the wife finding out!
Also some people who send such texts get an extra sexual kick imagining the other person's reaction when they receive the explicit text. They lie back and create a fantasy scenario where the other person is hugely turned on by their body - again that gives them fuel for their over-sized ego.
Ultimately anyone in the public spotlight who thinks they can get away with such explicit texting obviously likes to live life a bit on the edge. They know it's a risk to do so. They know they might get found out. But they put those fears to one side and enjoy the buzz of doing it instead. Sometimes this reveals that a person like Ashley simply doesn't 'connect the dots' - they just don't think that far ahead to what happens if one of their sex-texts get in the wrong hands. Maybe they'd be best advised to think with their head rather than their hand in future - and resist pressing the send button!
TODAY’S THOUGHT: if you're feeling gloomy just like the weather then don't hibernate and instead ring someone that you love chatting to. I'm going to ring my oldest friend this morning and hope she's not too busy for a catch-up chat. As young students (before I fell pregnant with my first child) we were "partners in crimes" - gallivanting across London and the bond has been there all these years. And on a gloomy day like today who better to talk to then someone who knows you inside and out?
Will be glued to the Brits tonight - someone I know is going - lucky them! Take care, Pam X
