Fun and laughter...
Phew, pretty much ‘comedied-out’ after seeing about 15 shows at the Edinburgh Festival. From brilliant to boring - I saw the lot!
LATER TODAY AND BEFORE I GET TO THAT - I've just posted two new "your e-mails of the week" - 'Anna' got in touch about her lack of confidence with men even at age 40 and 'Emily' about her cross-dressing partner. Look forward to more of your e-mails! Click the "Gold Star" on my homepage to see.
Here are a few recommendations: I would’ve put Paul Kerensa and Robin Ince at the top of my list but they both finished their runs this weekend.
Paul's show called ‘borderline racism’ was hilarious - he looked at the way countries around the world view other countries. He managed to do so without offending anybody in the audience - tall order considering there were loads of nationalities at his show.
Robin Ince, as always, stormed his set with his sharp and witty humour. Always brilliant - you'll have to catch him in London or around the country as he's a phenomenal "gigger".
Definitely see Greg Davis (the teacher in the E4 series The Inbetweeners) - absolutely brilliant!
Highly recommend Kevin Eldon - who I'd never caught live before – his show is called ‘Titting about’ and he takes the ‘p’ out of so many things.
Jeremy Lion in his show ‘Jeremy Lion goes green’ was hilarious as the useless children's entertainer who has a drink problem (I know that's not a laughing matter, obviously, but he gets away with it) and definitely needs to go green. Not as good as his last show I saw at Edinburgh - but still worth seeing.
Loved Stephen K Amos (I've recommended him many before) and another good one was Andi Oshi.
Would definitely miss Edward Aczel - a lazy act!
TODAY’S THOUGHT: coming back to London late last night, after seeing all those shows, I felt a bit blue. But I recognise the post-holiday blues when they hit. However many people don't understand why, when they've been away, they should feel a bit down on returning.
Don't worry, they pass quickly, and it's simply a small sense of loss returning to reality when you've been away in new surroundings. And for me it's always amazing to have my hubby to myself for a bit - rather than things like work getting in the way!
Am going to post two new "your e-mails of the week" at the end of the day (JUST DID THIS) - check it out - I might choose yours. Many thanks for those e-mails, keep them coming!
Love, Pam X
