Coming out is a good thing...
Lovely to see Jonathan Ross so proud of his 19-year-old daughter Betty Kitten being a lesbian (only hope she was cool with him discussing it - can't imagnine he would without her knowledge) - we need more parents proud of their children no matter what their sexuality. If only more dads and mums could take this attitude - that their children deserve love and respect when they come out. it would certainly make coming out loads easier.
I was once a massive fan of his but in the last couple years I felt Jonathan had gone downhill and his interviews became about himself rather than his guests and often descended into innuendo after innuendo - not that I don't appreciate some toilet humour now and again!
And the fact he was on a squillion ££ deal was insulting to us licence payers. But now maybe he can do something as a role model for families who are finding it hard to cope when a child comes out.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: if you've discovered a family member is gay or lesbian I hope you back them up 100%! There’s enough ugly prejudice in this world without it coming from their own family.
As a parent you may have had hoped your child would have the classic dream - getting married, having kids and being happy. But dreams come in many shapes and sizes and who are we to judge what's best?
Yay, hooking up with another girlfriend today somewhere reasonable but healthy like Itsu. One of my many resolutions for 2011 was far more face-time with pals - so far, so good.
I'm loving the new White Lies - not sure why they've had mixed reviews. Happy Wednesday, Pam X
