SAD, Empty nest syndrome, new book recommendations, panic stations...
Going to load up a new book on my Kindle this weekend having finished One Day - all recommendations welcome - get in touch at "your e-mail of the week” - cheers!
If you struggle with seasonal affective disorder (SAD) - particularly if you're a man - and you avoid discussing/sorting it - then please check out my article that's gone live on MSN UK's Him channel. There are many suggestions for coping with it as the SAD season approaches.
Looking forward to chatting to Richard Wilford who presents a Sunday morning programme on BBC radio West Midlands - we're chatting about Empty Nest Syndrome - so many grown-up children are leaving home this week and many parents are going to be suffering. I went through horrible ENS A few years back - but things get better and you realise it's not the end of your role as a parent just because they've left home.
Otherwise it's going to be a very quiet weekend - my new book's due to the publisher on Friday... double-eek - it's panic stations - just going to make the deadline! I'll be using all my "keep calm” techniques this weekend [at least that's the plan].
Will watch some X Factor for light relief... don't have a favourite as yet. Matt Cardle was my favourite early on last year - looking forward to his album out soon.
TODAY’S TIP: Here's a big, important tip for empty nest – Avoid Guilt Trips - It's important to find a balance between letting your child know that you’ll (of course) miss them - but not guilt-trip them that you have full-blown ENS.
With this big change and new life-phase it's easy to lose sight of proportion. Your child will find it hard enough missing you without thinking that you're hitting the G and T's and weeping in bed all day in their absence!
Have a lovely weekend, Pam x
