Save Your Relationship...And oh Mr Clegg!
Today’s my ‘better half’s’ birthday and we just had an early breakfast in bed so he could open his pressies. Tonight we're meeting people at his favourite Japanese restaurant – yay - I'll be devouring loads of fresh sushi!
Oh Mr Clegg I was sooooo into you until I read of your expenses (from a cake tin to gardening and kitchen improvements - you put in expenses for the smallest and the biggest of items!)and the fact you won't give a straight answer to whether you'd support the Conservatives or Labour in a hung Parliament. Don't you know by this point who you'd align yourself with because you felt their policies both best matched yours? Another big disappointment!
If Reading Be the Food Love... then Read On! There's a little piece about "a novel way to woo your lover" in some of the papers today - this is so true and I'm constantly suggesting that couples read to each other. However I find it goes both ways - that it's also incredibly relaxing for men, when women read to them - whereas this report focuses on men reading to women.
It's incredible how something as simple as reading to each other is such an emotionally-bonding thing to do, as well as a relaxing and/or sensual thing to do. Evidently couples are reading things like restaurant reviews to each other as well as erotic novels…hmmm… the mood you’re trying to set is definitely determined by your choice of reading material!
Save Your Relationship - make your bedroom a technology-free zone!
On the negative side of relationships there was also a survey today that completely confirms my professional experience that we've become a nation that's switched on 24/7 and can't even treat the bedroom as sacrosanct - instead people do e-mails and check social networking sites right up until they close their eyes. And guess who gets left out of this? Their partner!
TODAY’S THOUGHT: I've come across many relationships that have stumbled at this hurdle - where one partner complains that they're ignored at night because of technology. This research should be a wake-up call to those people who are more likely to turn on their Blackberries then turn on their partners! Think about it before you ignore your partner this way. Long ago my husband and I banned our mobiles, laptops and Blackberries from our bedroom after a couple "incidents" (in the early days of technology, say, 13-14 years ago) where one - or the other of us - paid more attention to those things then the other! We were lucky, we learnt quickly, other couples don't.
Enjoy the sunshine again – can’t believe how many days running I've signed-off like that - Pam X
