From privacy and death, to high heels at dawn, and sex addiction...
Tonight BBC1 is broadcasting the death of a grandfather called Gerald... I'll reserve comment until after I've seen the show but my gut reaction is death should be a private moment where your loved ones surround you with their love. I can't imagine anything less and I certainly wouldn't have wanted TV cameras there when my grandparents and parents died.
I'm sure this programme has been done in the best possible "taste" but is it necessary? What will we really learn? That someone looks 'different 'or at peace when they pass their last breath? It's not enough to take away the privacy of this moment.
Channel 4 goes from one extreme to another - it's axed the lovely, warm Fern Britton's show and is evidently considering Frankie Boyle! The once funny man who now deserves an as asbo for his not-funny humour. Isn't there someone between these two extremes who could do a darned good teatime show?
Fashionistas are at war as it’s suggested Catherine’s dress was a copy of one worn by a bride in some aristocratic wedding in Belgium... the thing is it was such a classic dress and major nod to style and sophistication of Grace Kelly’s wedding dress that there are bound to be thousands of similar designs around the world. Those fashionistas may only draw high heels at dawn - and fight with words - but they're a notoriously bitchy lot and I'd hate to be on the receiving end! Catherine looked beautiful on her big day and that's all that matters.
It's Thursday so I’ve posted a new "Your e-mail of the week". It's a general answer to a number of people who got in touch over the last week about sex addiction - guessing some people saw me talk about it last week on TV. Have a read if that's you.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: about 15 years ago on a radio programme I said "secret makes you sicker" and had a flood of calls from people with addictions... they all said that the secrecy around their addiction made things even more desperate. If you have a secret addiction do one thing today - choose one person you trust to confide in. I wish you the very best of luck!
A perfect little evening in Soho last night with an old friend beginning with drinks and ending with some tasty food - long may this wonderful weather last!
Here's a speedy music recommendation as I've run out of time- definitely listen to Benjamin Francis Leftwich - his track Box of Stones is amazing, beautiful.
Take care, Pam x
