A DVD-fest and time to find love again...
We had a DVD-fest (Hubby has a work connection with films and so ‘has’ to watch them - not that I want to make it sound like an ordeal - because it's not - it’s a fab perk of his job) and here's a couple movies I won't be recommending: Moon and The Informant.
I had high hopes for Moon after reading some good reviews - a sci-fi "psychological thriller" set on the moon in the future. I like the actor Sam Rockwell but he simply didn't have the chemistry to carry off this starring role. Kevin Spacey's voice-over is excellent though - slightly eerie and hard to interpret - adding to the mystery.
What can I say about The Informant? Except to inform you that if you're a Matt Damon fan you may find him less than convincing in this role. Based on a true story of big corporate fraud it could’ve done with being more taught and tense - instead there was a light weight (and odd) musical score that turned it into a bizarre comedy of sorts.
At least in Public Enemy Johnny Depp was pleasing on the eye - though it's disconcerting finding him handsome while he’s playing murderous bank robber John Dillinger! But tension mounts despite knowing it’s not going to end well for him.
If you've argued with your partner over the holidays I have an article in today's Express newspaper just for you. There's a short but crucial quiz you can take to estimate how serious things are followed by five main pieces of advice to try. I also wrote about finding love in today's Mail - so if you're single think about the tips I given… they'll help you find love if you're serious about finding it!
TODAY’S THOUGHT: today is the day (probably your Christmas festivities are over and relations are going home) that you might look at your partner thinking, "what a rough ride we've had when it was supposed to be so lovely over Christmas. How can we turn this around?" You CAN do it by listening to them, loving them, and letting the past go. Draw a line under things and move forward. That feeling you'd have to dig awfully deep to find any love left for them is a daunting feeling. But hopefully it's worth fighting for!
Heading out to see a friend later and enjoy my week off!
Lots of love, Pam X
