What a week it was...
OMG, gone for nine days and the world goes a bit mad. This is going to be brief - want to hold onto that ‘holiday vibe’ for a bit this Sunday before full-on tomorrow.
Where to begin? The completely mad, sad and bad pastor Terry Jones in Gainesville Florida trying to destabilise any semblance of goodwill between Muslims and non-Muslims around the world.
Freedom of speech is a great thing - but with that freedom comes responsibility and clearly this is an egotistical man so bonkers that he flung any responsibility for his actions out of the window.
Also it's a shame he didn't stop to think how his actions would overshadow the ninth anniversary of 9/11 - my heart goes out to each and everyone touched by that horriblee event branded forever on our brains.
And then there's Wayne Rooney - a man whose only skill is to kick a ball around. He has neither the brains or the decency to be a good husband and father. Betrayal once is bad enough but Colleen's mad to stick with him after this. She can give him all the access in the world to their son Kai - so that's no reason to stick by this despicable cheat.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: One betrayal you might forgive, although I know plenty of people who wouldn't (I'd find it incredibly hard to) but twice and it becomes obvious your so-called partner feels free to kick you in the teeth - and who should put up with that?
Think long and hard before setting this pattern in stone: they cheat, they apologise, you forgive - over and over again. Believe me I've seen it happen too many times to count.
Just loaded a recent article I wrote about unrequited love - check it out on "hot off the press" on my homepage.
So where did I disappear too? Tuscany with the hubby and some family members. Bar three hours of rain last Wednesday we had beautiful weather. We stayed in a coastal town and ventured into Pisa - just as I remembered from a childhood trip - come through an arch and suddenly the famous leaning Tower and beautiful basilica, etc., are there before you.
We also ventured to Florence - only for an afternoon as we were there a few years ago. A glorious city - go there!
Ate far too much wonderful pasta, fish dishes and Italian gelati and desserts… some careful eating is called for this week!
On the beach I managed to read The Girl Who Played with Fire (the second in the Stieg Larsson trilogy). I really liked it but as with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo there are times where certain things don't ring true (like Lisbeth Salandar getting a boob job - this kickboxing, no-nonsense, individualist, feminist wanting plastic boobs?? No way!) and the appalling violence in certain passages is stomach churning. I'm a wimp when it comes to violence.
Getting that Sunday feeling - enjoy yours, Pam x
