Help - their partner fancies you, second rate service, self-destruction, competitive couples...
Have you ever felt your friend's partner fancied you?? It's a tricky, even difficult and sometimes awful place to be - today my weekly iVillage.co.uk blog goes live and I've tackled this dilemma. Check out my advice if you're in this situation.
Are you fed up with second rate service when you go into a shop to spend your hard-earned ££s? Well, Selfridge's decided its customers weren't getting good enough service and I've written a comment piece in today's Express newspaper about this issue - wonder if you also get annoyed by the service you've received?!
So many different views about tragic Amy Winehouse and what those around her could've done to prevent her death... yes, it's absolutely true, a person with an addiction must decide to help themselves but if it's obvious they're on a path to self-destruction and death then drastic measures are called for and I think of Britney Spears family having her sectioned a couple years ago - that stopped her from killing herself with her addictions - sure, she wasn't very happy about it but she's alive today. My heart goes out to the Winehouse family - I'm certain they tried everything and some people just aren't going to be stopped. And if it ever crossed their minds to section her it's undoubtedly harder to get someone sectioned here than in the States so that may never have been an option.
Some people would be horrified at the thought sectioning a loved one - but for others like the Spears family they decided it was an option. Only a family knows what's really going on in these cases - you can't know the truth from the outside.
Spent last night playing nurse (so it's no longer Dr Pam but Nurse Pam) to a family member who had an operation. What is it about a poorly person that you love, that brings out that nurturing quality? It's like it's instinctual - you just feel an overwhelming desire to look after them and make them better.
Just posted a new article on how couples get competitive with each other - check it out on my homepage "My Love Academy”.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: competition between two partners often ends badly. Because really they should be a force against the world and not against each other. But it's far too common - and can break people up.
If you find yourself seeing your partner as the competitor you need to get to the bottom of what's fueling those feelings.
Take care of yourself and each other, Pam X.
