Brave Catherine's bipolar disorder, when you past catches up with you...
Thank goodness for the honesty of brave Catherine Zeta Jones Douglas - she's been getting treated for bipolar disorder. So many suffer with bipolar disorder and for someone with her international profile to be open about it can only help others.
If you're unaware of bipolar disorder it’s characterised by excessive mood swings from very high moods where a person is very energetic and positive but can also make very bad decisions. To very low moods where they feel a black cloud is hanging over them.
These mood swings can be cyclical and last for weeks or even for months - where for a number of weeks/months a person feels very high followed by a number of weeks/months feeling low.
Many will find it shocking because despite going through the trauma of Michael Douglas's throat cancer she still appeared by his side always looking stunning, looking after their children and doing her best. With the stigma attached to a mental health problem like bipolar people expect someone to look frazzled and unkempt. She's proof that anyone can be affected by such challenging illnesses.
I wish her the very best in managing her bipolar disorder.
Is the whole country play a guessing game about the "famous actor" who has got a super-injunction against his affair of being published? Even famous people have a right to a private life - he's not a politician running the country or someone who has to be a role model, right? I'm sure by now his wife's guessed and he's probably paying for his bad behaviour!
It's Thursday so I just posted a new "your e-mail of the week" (on my home page) - thanks as always for your e-mails but because I run my site myself (on top of a very long working week) I can only answer one a week. Today it's from ‘Cassie’ who's worried her past is going to catch up with her - and her new boyfriend will find out just how easy it was.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: Are you concerned about your ‘past’ catching up with you? Everyone has a past - even the person you're worried about finding out about yours - he/she has a past!
The crucial thing is, if you're happy with yourself the way you are today then your past - no matter how hard, tough, racy, crazy - was what helped make you the person you are today.
If it's really that bad - and likely to come out to this person - then sit them down and make sure you're the person to tell them. Better coming from the horse’s mouth.
Now relax and get it sorted. I'm wishing you all the best!
Got my hands on Katy B's album On a Mission - worth checking it out. She has such a distinctive voice, love the dub-step tunes and there are some really creative things going on in the album.
Happy birthday, Pam x
