You're not alone and think before you hop into bed...
I've just posted a new "your e-mail of the week" (click on the gold star on my home page), My heart goes out to "Marie" as she's facing a dire Christmas. Thanks for all your e-mails over the year!!
I hope you've managed to get back to your nearest and dearest despite icy conditions across half the country. But if you're stuck alone (reading that Fergie will be stuck alone) get on the phone to wish people happy Christmas.
I'll never forget the year I was separated (as my first marriage came to an end) and had Christmas eve on my own as my children were with their father - all my friends had left London to go to their parents in various parts of the UK. My own family was Stateside - and we weren't flying to see them till a few days after Christmas... felt like a year.
I did a volunteer stint at a London teaching hospital handing out teas , etc., to take my mind off missing my children - then spent the whole evening on the phone talking to far flung family and friends. It was thinking about other people - and then connecting on the phone - that got me through till the children were returned for our Christmas.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: you're not alone - so let people know if you're feeling that way. Or indulge yourself for a day or two - why not if you don't have to worry about what others want to do?
Use it as a time to cherish some peace and quiet - something we rarely get. Or if you're a separated parent, use it as a time to get lots of surprises ready for when your children are back with you. It feels like ages but it won't be long.
On another note I must comment on an article out today about relationship research - basically finding that those who wait to have sex have stronger relationships. Yep, I write steamy sex books (the new one’s out right now) but my message is always, always take your time before sliding between the sheets.
My rule of thumb? If you can’t share your words (communicate with them) don't share your body! Sex is so much better when you have the confidence to ask for what you want. It's the rare person who has the confidence straight away!
Over to a ‘tune mention’ - loving Jessie J - check her out.
Have a lovely, peaceful, restful, healthful, happy Christmas and new years! Love Pam X
