Tragic and sad, a host of films, certain personality types shouldn't get ill...
My thoughts and wishes are with the families in Tucson, Arizona who have lost a loved one or waiting for a loved one to recover. Here's hoping for a miraculous recovery for the Congresswoman shot at nearly point blank range.
It's another tragic, senseless, horrible shooting by a crazy lunatic in America - it's far too late for gun control there. Having grown up Stateside until my mid-teens - when I moved here - I know how many people own guns. Thankfully no member of my family - or extended family - ever possessed one.
I hope more than anything that we stay as gun-free as possible here.
Let's move on to something on a completely light note we continued with the DVD-fest over the weekend. Saturday we had takeaway pizza with friends (I'm not offering to cook after my disastrous slow-cook pork chops last week) and watched The Fighter with Christian Bale and Matt Damon - after a slow start it warms up into a surprising, moving film about two brothers who are boxers.
Yup, there's the classic good brother - bad brother split in their personalities that leads one down a tragic path and nearly finishes off the other - but the good-bad split is handled well and not completely cliched.
Also watched Carey Mulligan and Keira Knightley in Never Let Me Go – hmmm... a bit of a downer so don't watch if you're feeling depressed! Not surprised about that though as it's taken from a Japanese novel and every Japanese author I've ever read has had a melancholy tone to their writing.
Defo you can skip both 4.3.2.1 and NEDs - predictable, bleak and uninspiring.
Have you got a cold that you can’t get rid of? Join the crowd - have had mine for over a week - it's SO BORING!! And have now cancelled plans to catch up with an old pal tonight. Arghh - hate being ill but can’t complain since others have had proper flu...and mine's just a cold
I don't know about you, but I'm a very bad patient. Being ill is a waste of time as far as I'm concerned.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: And this is why certain personality types probably don't shake off illness quickly - because we ignore it, get on with life and then end up twice as bad. We just shouldn't get ill!
Oh well, off to get a Lemsip-style drink and do a bit of work.
Here's to you getting better if you've also got cold! Pam X
