The 'role' you play in the 'script' of your life, you can change how you relate to your partner...
As a couple did you two fit together as if you were ‘made for each other’? Did you feel you'd ‘known each other for ever’?
My article about couple-types has gone live on MSN UK Life and Style channel - I wonder which Celebrity Couple-Type Are You?
I've taken some of the main couple-types - e.g., the explosive couple, the big kid and their grown-up couple, the quirky couple, etc., and have used celebrity examples to illustrate these.
If you're in a relationship check it out to see the pros and cons of your couple-type.
TODAY’S TIP: from early in your childhood you "learn" how couples relate to each other from the way your mum and dad treated each other. And from their example it's like learning your 'role' in a 'script' - a relationship script - when you meet someone.
But sometimes the scripts we live by - and the roles we play in relationships - are unhappy ones - if your parents were unhappy you might end up in unhappy relationships.
Today and each day I want you to resist any negative thing you've been doing in your relationship, e.g., like getting the silent treatment when you're angry... maybe that's what your mum or dad did. Try instead to explain your anger. Take time to express what you mean and tell your partner what you're trying to do - they'll appreciate you trying to break out of your old role.
You can break free of an unhappy role that you're playing in the ongoing script of your life. You have the power to change that and relate to your partner in a better way!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Pam x
