From winners to losers and all points in between...
I'm back and hope you've had a fantastic 10 days in that time the Egyptians got rid of Mubarek (and we wait to see what happens next), other Middle Eastern countries are rallying around activists like the Libyans are trying to do today, Colin won a BAFTA for The King's Speech (yay) but was disappointed The Social Network didn't win for best film. Have got The Brits on the Sky planner - look forward to watching it tonight - fab that Plan B, Cee Low, Tinie Tempa bagged Brits - but though I love Arcade Fire I had hoped for Kings of Leon.
Call me cynical but is Cheryl Cole talking about her girl crush on Rhianna to get attention since she didn't win anything??
Tomorrow I'm going to post two new "your e-mails a week" - thanks for all of them!
After arriving back from Cape Verde in the early hours of Tuesday morning I went straight to The Children's Society consultation at Windsor castle - talk about a glorious setting in which to have stimulating discussions about the state of family life and how to improve childhood.
To Cape Verde - it was fantastic if you like snorkelling, diving and other watersports as we do ... or if you're happy sitting on a beach. Sal and Boa Vista Islands are truly desert islands and would only recommend them if you're into watersports and lying on a beach. The other islands offer more activities like walking/hiking if you get bored with the beach.
The people were amazing and I loved the fusion Portuguese/African music. Hated the massive amount of development going on... these islands are changing rapidly.
Finished Robert Harris's Lustrum - absolutely loved it and felt cheated by the ending... won't spoil it for you. Also read Costa winner Maggie O’Farrell's The Hand That First Held Mine - a haunting story that began with the mysterious turn and slowly unravels the answers. No time to mention the other two books I read - will do so tomorrow.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: even if you can’t go somewhere then why not read up about it - I've never been to Thailand and yet I've read so much about it! Would love to go there and hope to one day.
Till tomorrow when I get through your e-mails, happy Wednesday, Pam X
