Beware the new sex pill for men and laughter is the best medicine...
I'm so looking forward to my ‘agony’ radio slot on Dublin News talk at 10 AM as the producer has told me we have some really interesting dilemmas to discuss. Including a woman who has discovered her brother is having an affair - and she wonders if she should tell her sister-in-law who she absolutely loves. No, confront her brother first! And also a 44-year-old man who thinks he may be suffering from depression but isn't sure. We'll check out those symptoms.
I can't wait to get my hands on this week's Love it! magazine as I believe I've got a couple hot questions in my Sex Confidential column.
Ok, calling all men as things might be about to change if you suffer from premature ejaculation. Have you read about the new tablet that will make some women's hearts sink!? In the press yesterday and today there are reports of the premature ejaculation (PE) pill - Priligy - that'll make some women - wait for it - dread the bedroom. Yup, I said dread the bedroom! Read on...
Although men may hate their PE, in confidence many women tell me they're quite happy to have it over and done with quickly. They are so stressed and tired with our modern lifestyles that they don't want long love sessions!
Take Janey, 36 (a pseudonym) married for six years. She's quite relieved that her husband is 'quick on the draw' and has admitted confidentially that she doesn't have the time - or the desire - in her busy life as a working mother to fit in passionate sessions between the sheets.
She has the children that she wanted (two under fives)band she loves her career as a designer and doesn't miss the "honeymoon phase" of their early days together in the slightest.
This is an issue that men who are running in their droves for the pharmacy that’s prescribing the pill privately need to consider. Because what some women tell me confirms research that many women prefer less foreplay so it's over or more quickly. However let's not forget that many women want lots of foreplay and a long sex session! You simply need to know what your partner really wants!
Also in the papers today was a piece about the benefits of laughter and I've always said ‘Laughter is just what the 'happiness doctor' ordered’! In my new book How to be a Happy Human one passage is all about laughter being the best medicine.
So, this report says that laughter can be as good as exercise. This is music to my ears - I'm always encouraging stressed clients (and their partners) to watch comedy films, to record hours of their favourite sitcoms from the comedy channels, to get out to comedy gigs, etc. Laughter is a fantastic 'medicine' and this piece could use anecdotes exploring this.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: think about the last time you really laughed with a loved one - how good was that?! My hubby had me in stitches with his imitations of various celebs at the weekend (he’s at least as good as Rory Bremner!) - honestly I had tears in my eyes. Endorphins produced by such laughter gives you a feelgood buzz for a number of hours - so get out for some comedy or see a comedy film.
Its glorious sunshine outside so I hope you have a wonderful day, Pam X p.s. loving Plan B right now even though a lot of people claim they like his earlier stuff.
