Stupid, stupid, stupid...
It's New Year's Eve and if you're thinking of making resolutions I advise you to think small! The reason? Because I know from my work that when someone resolves something like to never argue with their partner it's just NOT going to happen - everyone argues even my hubby and I! To be honest with you it's just plain stupid to make sweeping resolutions. They DON'T work!
Far better to think small and say to yourself that when you do get angry you'll make sure you don't say something horrible that you’ll regret - and that your partner won't forget. Or to resolve that you'll try and identify 'hotspots' between you and your partner that set you both off - and do something about these - one at a time. Keep it manageable.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: Apply this to any resolution - think small and make changes that you CAN stick to. A ‘biggie’ here is the many women - and some men - who will go on diets in January. If you resolve never to have a ‘treat’ again or never to indulge in some lovely comfort food - you can’t stick to that! Far better to take slightly smaller portions at every meal and get out for a brisk walk each day at the very least.
My little eyes were drawn to pictures in the press today - the cutest little panda bear trying to get out of his cot - taken in China. You can see the determination on his little face - simply gorgeous. And then Peaches Geldof looking completely stupid (stupididy seems to be my theme today)- or at the very least extremely naïve - pictured pointing a toy gun at a pal.
Not only is young Miss Geldof in the age group where so much gun crime takes place but I'd like to see her venture on to some other hardened estates where the most awful crimes take place between youth on youth - toting her plastic gun - and see how she likes the vibe from that. Completely different than the clubs and parties she goes to I'm sure. When’s someone going to talk to her about common sense… over to you Bob!
Very disappointed in Brad Pitt’s performance in Inglorious Basterds that we watched before going to our friends in Wanstead yesterday. Being a massive Brad-fan I felt he lacked any serious qualities in that role.
Hope you’re going to do something on new year’s eve with people you love or that you can have a laugh with! We’re going to old friends who are having a dinner party - they always have people over who are good fn with lots of banter. She's also a fab cook and will undoubtedly cook up a storm - do you notice a trend here? All my friends are better cooks than I am - maybe I should resolve to improve my skills in the kitchen in 2010!
Have a very happy one and if you're driving - don't drink because it's stupid and dangerous to drive and drink - so if you're drinking take a cab like we're doing. Lots of love and happiness for 2010, be safe, Pam X
