Working parents - we're saints, BBLB, and romantic or fool?
Are you an overworked parent? Do you fret about how little time you have with your children? In today's Express newspaper I've written a piece straight from the heart about my regrets when my children were very young having been so focused on career. I don't have many regrets - I've made tons of mistakes, but try and deal with them, and move on rather than regretting them.
When it comes to my children this is a regret that always lingered. When my first was born I was only a young university student and carried on finishing my BSc Honours in psychology. In the 80s women weren't allowed to think about anything but career.
My advice? Do what works for you and don't feel the pressure to "have it all" - you can’t! As a working parent you're probably a saint - I've met so many parents who try and juggle everything and do their best by their families - but think again, if you think you're going to regret some choices like I did.
Very excited as I’m going to be a guest on BBLB again next Wednesday. It's a completely fun programme to work on - no matter if you're a Big Brother fan or not - and some of my pals aren’t. But I love the quirkiness, it's weird and wonderful!
Is Kelsey Grammer an incurable romantic or a foolish middle-aged man? I hope he sorts it out with allegedly another baby on the way with his new girlfriend. Babies don't need fools, they need real men in their lives.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: as an agony aunt I've heard from many of people who had their childhoods ruined by fathers (and sometimes mothers) who refused to grow up and act like fathers. Who let their own emotional needs cloud their judgement.
It leaves such emotional scars in those children. If that's the case then you will let down in that way I hope you learn to put in perspective and move on and find happiness. I've met people in their 30s and 40s still eaten up by the pain of their childhood.
Ooh, gawd, gone all serious. Here's something different: Die Antwoord (it means "the answer" in Afrikaans)- a crazy hybrid South African crew of music. If you can ignore the swearing (I love lots of urban music but hate the swearing in much of it), and want to hear something different, with hip-hop roots but tons of influences, check them out. Weird or what?
I hope to post a new "your e-mail of the week" today - e-mail me while both time and maybe yours will be answered and posted. LATER TODAY - JUST POSTED AN EMAIL FROM CHARLOTTE - she's violent to her partner.
Love, Pam X
