Worst kept secret in town, a little bit of magic, emotional blackmail...
So the worst kept secret in town's out and Imogen Thomas’s famous footballer lover revealed - I'm completely confused whether or not I can actually name him or not - but we all know who he is now... talk about heaping more misery on his wife's heart break. This talented player - but stupid man (crikey Imogen is the spitting image of his wife!) - should never have had the affair. Having done so he should’ve confessed in private to his wife. I wish her and their children the very best.
On to something that actually matters - Obama's in town and I hope he'll spread a little magic the way he did in Ireland. Fingers crossed he and Cameron can come up with at least the beginnings of solutions for Afghanistan and Libya.
Later today my weekly iVillage.co.uk blog will go live - this week it's about one woman's dilemma over her boyfriend who's threatening one of the worst things a partner can threaten - that he might ‘do something’ to himself if she breaks up with him.
Talk about the levels people will stoop to so they can manipulate a partner to stay - this is a horrible thing to threaten anyone. Yes, someone must be quite desperate to do so but that's never the way to keep someone.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: if someone is trying to emotionally blackmail you definitely enlist a neutral third party to help. Don't keep this threat between the two of you - otherwise it's an enormous burden on your shoulders. Keep levelheaded and keep talking to the partner that's threatening to harm themselves.
Tell them you'll go to the GP with them so they can find out about counselling and perhaps medication for the immediate time that they're feeling so desperate.
Then you must set your boundaries - you can’t be tied to someone because of blackmail. I'm sending you loads of strength if you're going through this now.
Woot - going to The Wizard of Oz - the Musical tonight – can’t wait - what a treat! Haven't been to the musical since I saw The Jersey Boys six months ago... I would never sing along, though, wouldn't want to upset anyone with my tone-deaf style singing voice.
Take care, Pamx
