Excuses I've heard them all! The physical pain of heartbreak, Britney and expectations...
Looking forward to speaking to Joe Talbot on BBC Radio Surrey & Sussex after 230 about research out today showing that a broken heart (and other forms of rejection, snubs, and generally unpleasant events) can actually hurt. Researchers found increased responsiveness to pain when we've been hurt emotionally... a double blow to the brokenhearted.
Excuses, Excuses, Excuses ... I've Heard Them All! I could very well believe other research out today showing the huge variety of excuses people use to give up a diet... from "it was his birthday so it would be rude not to eat some cake" to "it's winter so I can wear baggy clothes" - we turn making excuses into an art form.
My question to you - have you come up with a ridiculous or ludicrous excuse lately for anything from dieting to failing to meeting deadlines? I've got news for you - ultimately the negative impact is on you.
I hear all sorts of dodgy excuses but many find like Ross in sitcom Friends when he tried to excuse his dodgy one night stand by saying "but we were on a break!" to Rachel, that their excuses don't wash.
Got to love Britney - now that she's cleaned up her act (and well done to her!) she expects her entourage to stay on the straight and narrow. How she's going to enforce that is beyond me.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: one thing I've learned is that we can change our own behaviour for the better - but no matter how much we expect others to do so they have a will of their own. You can beat your head against a wall trying to get someone to stop doing destructive things but until they’re ready to change you might as well be talking to your cat... you know how independently minded our feline friends are!
Thinking of animals I was horrified by the sickening pictures of the elephant being beaten by its "keeper". How cruel and sick - how do people get to be like that?
So BA is facing more strike action - you've got to be crazy to book a flight with them. After a terrible experience with BA 10 years ago I'll never fly with them anyway - sad to think a once strong institution is being brought to its knees but the rot had already set in.
Fingers crossed if you've already booked a flight with them the strike action doesn't scupper it.
Take care, Pamx
