Unbelievable, seeing pals and mistakes in the press,
In today's Sun newspaper I've got a piece about not being a 'dating desperado' - watch it if you'e a bit desperate that it doesn't show - and check out my tips if you're worried it does show!
Just posted a new "your e-mail of the week" - click on the 'gold star' on my homepage. It's rather surprising condom dilemma from Rory.
Was out the other night so caught up on The Apprentice last night. Come on, can this be Britain's best business talent?? Or just a ratings winner because I'm going to be glued to this motley crew competing against each other. Unbelievable some of the personalities - bring on the craziness! As well as giving Dan the boot I would've happily seen Stuart go too - talk about someone believing their own hype.
This has been a great week for me, catching up with friends on four occasions - so many weeks work takes over and it's depressing when you have to cancel friends because of work.
Yesty grabbed lunch with a pal/colleague - we met near Bank Tube and for the first time ever I walked through the Royal Exchange - you can live in this capital most of your life and never enter such fabulous buildings. If you're there it's worth a walk through.
V excited as get to see one of my oldest friends for the first time in a couple months. It's a girls’ night only – the hubby gets relegated to a curry and a pint with one of his pals. Probably heaven for him!
I've often said I take things with a pinch of salt in newspapers/websites and I have very good reason. Yesty I was wrongly attributed in a national newspaper where it said in an article that I had completed a 24 year study on obesity and happiness. The writer failed to read correctly the article in Tuesday's Mail when I commented on this big study.
Instead there it was in black-and-white that I've spent the last 24 years of my life studying thousands of obese people in Germany… Germany?! 24 years of my life?! And the tone of the article was very negative towards the research that was supposedly mine. We're talking about a writer who writes for respected places - so if she can get things wrong then you've got to wonder.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: if it's happened to me in that small way then read things with a touch of scepticism. I've often been privy to the real facts of a story (often a celebrity story) and I see the wrong things written in a newspaper. My work takes me into contact with people in the industry and frequently the press makes mistakes.
This is far from the first time it's happened to me. And I've seen it happen in offices when a bit of gossip becomes the 'truth' and people are damaged by it. If gossip comes your way don't get involved if it seems harmful, nasty, or ‘bullying’. Don't spread it around. I've heard awful stories where damaging things happen after gossip has spun out of control.
I've applied for tix in a Radio one "lottery" for a special evening with the Kings of Leon – eek, keeping everything crossed - I will explode with happiness if I get tix!
Happy Friday, Pam X
