High heels and defeatist parents...
Catching up with my friend yesterday not only did we chat about our workloads, husbands, children, and so on, but our guilty pleasure at still finding Jon Bon Jovi extremely cute - despite his bland, new single he's still gorgeous!
Then we stopped in Dune and both bought slinky new heels - though not the 5 inchers we saw – ridiculous… but fab to look at!
Doing my weekly dream interpretation slot on George Lamb's BBC 6 Music show after 12 - why not listen in to the 'rollercoaster-radio experience' on the Net - even text in your dream for me! Text 64046.
Okay, another thing that worries me with parents and another example of what I've come to call "defeatist parenting" comes from the release of a terribly violent 18-rated videogame. Parents who are buying it for their under 18s are saying things like "they'd watch it at a friend’s anyway" so why not buy it for them. Is that defeatist - or what - when exposing their young minds to this violent pollution? If they play a game like that occasionally at a friend’s hopefully it won't affect them, but if they have it in their bedroom to play night-and-day research shows it does - of course it does - we get affected by advertising on telly or the advertisers wouldn't pay for it - we get affected by all that we see - particularly horrible scenes of violence. Worst of all the long-term effect is becoming immune to it.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: I hope you'll take a moment and pause today to remember those who have served and died for our country. Where would we be without those brave souls?
Love as always, Pam x
