So much to say, so little time!
Argghh… so much to say, so little time!
Today on my weekly iVillage.co.uk blog I advise a woman who's not sure if her one night stand - that's turned into more (a three-month relationship so far) - has a chance of turning into even more. If you're in that situation check it out.
Omg, heard some of the Radio One Big Weekend coverage and there were so many amazing live sets including Lost Prophets, Alicia Keys, Dizzy Rascal, Biffy and so many others. Heard from my friend, and one of my children who went, it was phenomenal.
Sticking with music it was fab to hear Wild Beast’s track Hooting and Howling on Radio one! And I'm loving Eminem's brutally frank lyrics in Not Afraid, as well as Pretty Reckless’s track Make Me Wanna Die
Now, if you're a cat lover I have a question for you: why is my cat so lazy? Honestly my cat Tinkerbell Betty-Boo, the black and white cutie in my photo section, has become so lazy and she's only just turned 5!
Yesterday was a beautiful day and I had to practically throw her out in the garden to enjoy some sunshine - she loves just cuddling up in her basket indoors. Her brother Napoleon has barely been seen since the good weather. E-mail me at "your e-mail of the week" if you have a lazy cat or any ideas for kickstarting a lazy cat!
A heartfelt word of warning: don't put off having children until it's too late! In the press today's story about the number of mothers over 40 is really quite shocking as women are playing with fire when they take a rather casual attitude about having children - only to find their biological clock goes off at, say, 37. Then they find it's not so easy to conceive and they've left it too late!
I've met many women in the last decade who are absolutely bereft - they made this grossly misguided assumption that they could put off having children to a time it suited them - and their bodies wouldn't play ball. Tragically sometimes their last hope of IVF fails them and not only do they bitterly regret not having children but they're wracked by terrible guilt.
If you're considering having children don't put it off until it's too late!
And what about the fibbing girl-friends story in the press - well, no surprises there! There's research reported in the press today about women being underhand when it comes to telling their friends, e.g., they look good - often because of a sense of competition. No surprises there as we women are incredibly competitive with each other and manipulate situations to suit us.
I've seen this happen so many times including witnessing a girlfriend of mine - I'll call her Angela - who raved about another friend’s outfit - I'll call her Julie - saying it suited her perfectly when it quite clearly did not.
You see, Angela was recently divorced and felt in competition with any potential love rival and obviously was prepared to lie blatantly so that she came across in a good light when we went out.
There we were preparing to go on a girls' night out, having gone over to Julie's house to collect her while Julie tried on countless outfits fretting about what to wear. It was the outfit that least suited her that Angela said was fab!
TODAY’S THOUGHT: it's not just my friends who fib - I've heard many stories along these lines. Sometimes a woman feels quite guilty after such a fib - but mostly they don't think twice about it! What I'm asking you to think about today is, if you're guilty of this, do you feel good about it? I suspect you may not - so time to be a little more genuine but the people you call friends.
Got to run as after meetings I'm having lunch with two old pals today in the West End.
Enjoy your Wednesday, Pam x
