Once a cheat, and the hilarious Inbetweeners...
Ok, I have some good, meaty dilemmas to tackle on my weekly radio slot on Dublin Newstalk after 11 AM. One woman who's got in touch has had her first ever one-night stand and is feeling pretty awful about it.
Another dilemma comes from a man who wants to propose to his girlfriend - but she cheated on a past partner - and he's wondering…once a cheat, always a cheat?
Before my thoughts on that question… to the Inbetweeners - another cripplingly funny show last night. Monday used to be my going out tonight - not a big night out - but a quiet drink with a pal to continue the weekend-vibe. Now all of us pile in front of the telly to laugh till we're almost crying for what's become a Monday night event.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: back to my thoughts on that man's dilemma: ‘once a cheat not necessarily always a cheat’. But twice or three times a cheat and, yep, it's pretty much guaranteed they'll cheat on you too.
Serial cheats usually have a defect in their character, e.g., they need the thrill or the risk, or they’re very bad at expressing themselves and get frustrated in their relationships - and then look for pleasure outside of it.
But maybe with real soul-searching, plus real behavioural changes, plus changes in the way they relate to others, they can turn things around. It can be done in some cases!
Time for a rant: let's get real, the feckless father who's been in the papers for the last two days needs a vasectomy! I don't want to foot the bill for 14 of his babies and I'm sure you don't. It makes my blood boil particularly because those children won't have a shred of a father figure in their life.
Rant over, loving Radioactive by the Kings of Leon and also Bruno Mars’s new track Just The Way You Are. I know, I know, my tastes are completely unpredictable.
Enjoy your beautiful, sunny Tuesday, Pam X
