When you can't agree on babies, save me from throwing something at the TV, body image...
My weekly iVillage.co.uk blog’s gone live today and tackles the difficult and sensitive issue of when one partner wants a baby and the other partner doesn't. Many hurdles couples face are tricky - sexual differences, money issues, families that interfere, etc. - but few cause as much heartache as this rather black-and-white issue - because either you have a child together or you don't.
The beauty of compromise is lost when it comes to having children.
If you're struggling with this check out my blog and remember the key thing is to explore why the person who doesn't want children, doesn't want them. It might be an insecurity or an unspoken fear and if they can get past that then actually a might choose to become a parent.
Over at Eastenders and the awful baby swap story - I'm sorry, if Ronnie pulls one more of her gloomy faces I'll throw something at the TV. Samantha Janus is a very good actress but she doesn't have a very large ‘gloomy repertoire’. And as for then having Kat reject baby Tommy at first - just doesn't wash - if I'd written that episode she would’ve been fighting to get into the room where they were checking out his well-being. She would've been like a tigress fighting to see him.
Hasn't Nigella Lawson heard of factor 50 sunblock? How uncomfortable and awkward she looked pictured on Bondi Beach in a ‘Burkini’. Yes, I've wised-up about the sun and don't expose myself to excessive rays - but a good sun factor will do the trick. You don't need to be weighed down by metres clothing...unless she's simply trying to cover her figure. In which case she's a rather silly woman because she has a multitude of male fans who love her curves - including most of the men I know. So don't cover the curves Nigella!
TODAY’S THOUGHT: but that's what a negative body image can do to a person - make them cover-up completely or try weird and wonderful ways to deflect attention from their bodies. If that's you then try focusing for 15 minutes today on your personality!
Shutout thoughts about your size and shape anything about the last nice thing you did for a friend was the last time someone told you that you were lovely. Start believing it and stop wasting your time worrying about your shape. Be healthy but don't be obsessed!
The sun’s shining again, we're so lucky, and it looks like it's going to shine right through the royal wedding. Take care, Pam x
