From annoyed to angry...
Well, we re-erected and re-decorated our Christmas tree last night so it looks lovely once again. It's so grey and cold this morning I've got my lightbox on - haven't had to use it every day this year with some of the sunny mornings.
So many things in the news today which are making me from annoyed to angry. The BA strike has completely messed up a family member's plans to travel with their new partner - they're madly trying to re-book on other airlines but it's not looking good. Can't believe these people are prepared to ruin Christmas holidays - I've never been one to be a strike-breaker but this is one strike I would break. The union evidently didn't give them a choice - I'm sure lots of BA's staff would've waited until after Christmas to strike if they had the choice.
And what about the fact that we're even having a discussion that drunk men are getting away with raping their wives or partners - and that somehow the alcohol use gives them an excuse?? Rape is rape whether committed in a sober or drunken state. It's barbaric to think that men are getting away with alcohol abuse to abuse their wives and partners. That shouldn't even be a discussion point - it's so blatantly wrong.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: please take care when out and about after Christmas parties. After being out in town one night last week, hubby and I saw a woman stumbling from a bar in Soho. We watched to make sure she got to the tube - but even then, what if she'd stumbled in front of a tube? You know the smart thing to do is to make sure one of your friends stays sober so that he or she can make sure people get safely home.
I'm looking forward to my radio slot on Tom Dunne's Dublin News talk show this morning after 11.00 - I know we're hearing from a woman who is unhappy with her boyfriend giving his ex a Christmas present. I think he should be focusing on his present relationship and not being so cosy with his ex! Yes, keep on good terms but it's another thing to go cuddling up with Christmas presents.
On a lighter note - Evidently our first shoes are closer to a girl's heart then her first kiss - I'm sorry but sometimes we can make statistics say what we want - and somehow I think this is just a headline grabber. I don't know a woman who can’t describe in complete detail her first kiss and even as a shoe lover I think my first kiss put more of a stamp on my memory than the first shoes.
Was lovely to catch up with an old pal yesterday - you know what I said about getting back in touch - do it! Take care, Pam X
