From lady-love, to PTSD, and the many good young people out there...
Today on my weekly iVillage.co.uk blog I discuss a woman's dilemma about her desire to dabble in a little 'lady love'. If you're a woman who's been fantasising about same-sex love then take a look.
You know my feelings on same-sex love - there's not enough love in this world and everyone should have the right to find love or the person they want to! You need to be true to yourself and don't let the bigots get you down.
Later today I'm looking forward to an interview on Talk Radio Europe with presenter Hannah Murray- I do occasional interviews with them - there are always fun and lively - and this one's about how women become less satisfied the longer their relationship goes on.
As the inquest starts into the Cumbrian massacre by gunman Derrick Bird I fear for those who encountered him or were in the vicinity of any of his shootings and victims. The court case may well bring up PTSD - post-traumatic stress disorder.
I once worked on PTSD research at a London teaching hospital and there are many triggers in such extreme cases including seeing the story splashed across the papers again and the knowledge it is going to court. The horrors of that day may return to the mind.
Joanna Lumley's a one-woman phenomenon - and her campaigning on the Gurkhasand elder issues has been fantastic - but I do think she's written off "young people" as being without morals. Every generation has had their share of louche behaviour - wasn't Joanna's generation the one where it was "hip" to NOT remember the 60s?? Presumably because you were having so much fun you forgot an entire decade!
TODAY’S THOUGHT: there's good and bad in every generation - as an agony aunt I hear from so many young people really stressed out with the pressure to take drugs, to have sex too soon. They hate the bullying they see around them, and they worry about the environment, etc. There are a lot of good young people!
It's so easy to make such generalisations - hands up I do so at times - we should just be aware when we doing.
Loving James Blake - check out his album if you'd like some haunting tune.
Happy Wednesday, Pam x
