Dare I go?? Relationship roadblocks
Due to go by train to the heart of Kent to take Christmas lunch to my adopted English 'gran' - it will be horribly disappointing if my pals and I don't - and yet later this afternoon I don't want to get stuck on a train line in Kent! Despite the Kent countryside being beautiful! I was left with a dislike (not really a phobia) of being trapped in snow after being snowed in/trapped for five days in a little hotel in the Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows area of north Lake Tahoe, California in late-March 1982 after a massive avalanche that killed eight or nine people. Let me assure you it's not fun when you know there are people dead around you.
On a lighter note was out catching up over pre-Chrissie drink with an old pal at the Century club last night - which was lovely but could barely hear each other - I hope I'm not the only one getting sick of very loud bar music!!
Very amusing report about men not having any idea what to give their partners for Christmas. E-mail your worst ever gifts from HABs - 'that husbands and boyfriends' - to my "your e-mail at the week" on my homepage and next week I'm going to post the worst.
I'll kick off the list with the time I was given a Hoover - was that a hint that I was a bad housekeeper?? Practically the least romantic gift ever.
Seeing that Brad and Angelina may go for a spiritual wedding in India I'm torn in two - part of me thinks 'good on them' - their lives must be so Hollywood-materialistic that some spirituality will be a good thing. The other part of me thinks this is such a cliche started by the Beatles.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY: if it makes things sweeter, more loving, more spiritual and caring, etc., between you two then do try new avenues to deepen your relationship.
Obviously in my work I meet many people that come across relationship roadblocks - crash into them or keep trying the same old thing to get past them. Think about you and your partner - and whether you need to do things in a new way. It's coming up to the worst couple weeks in the calendar for break-ups.
Keep warm and cosy! Here's hoping that I'll get back from Kent! Happy Friday, pam X
