When should you cut and run? And skiving-off work...
When should you cut and run from a relationship? Well, that depends on the circumstances. In my weekly iVillage.co.uk blog today I answer a woman's question about this. In her case it's going to take genuine and honest communication with her boyfriend to inform her decision to stay or go.
He's been giving her mixed messages over 11 months and quite frankly I think 11 months is long enough for him to know whether or not their relationship's going places. She wants it to work and go places - but does he?
TODAY’S THOUGHT: most of the dilemmas I receive as an agony aunt or hear about as a life coach come down to the fact that one person wants to know what the other person is thinking, feeling, or what they're doing about something (I'm talking about all sorts of issues - not just the woman who wants to know if she should cut and run).
But the people who contact me simply don't know how to get the conversation started - or have the courage to face the person with their concerns.
The truth is, so often what we fear we're going to hear isn't necessarily the case. Things can be worse than we suspected but they can often be better.
You won't know until you ask! So stop being afraid - get asking - and I hope you get the answers you want.
Later today I'm talking to an Irish radio station -Spin 103 - about Ultimate Big Brother - I recorded some to watch after a dinner out last night. Hmmm... what a crazy mix - definitely some fireworks in store.
So I'm a little skiver...had a lovely "arty-farty" afternoon seeing a fab photography exhibition at the Orange Dot Gallery (check out this small gallery with up-and-coming artists In Tavistock Place) plus the Picasso exhibition at the Gagosian Gallery. It was a great pal’s late birthday celebration 'treat' so we also grabbed some sushi.
But skiving-off for the afternoon has its consequences (gaawwdd I was such a skiver in my schooldays with varying consequences) rushed to get back to a late meeting (barely making it on time) and today's going to be a 12 hour work-day!
Take care, Pam X
