Again I didn't poison anyone...
Saw some of the BAFTA Tv awards last night after friends left - was surprised by some of the winners and will come back to that after I get through meetings this morning. And Amanda Holden? She looks younger than when she started in TV - phenomenal - she's like a perfect little blonde Barbie doll!
Ok, back again, Julie Walters is a one-woman phenomenon and I'm so glad she won best actress but Kenneth Branagh winning for Wallander? Talk about a nonperformance! He was so understated and laid back as to be horizontal. I also felt the same about Rebecca Hall getting Best supporting actress - she's a beautiful brunette but she doesn't exactly come alive on screen. I love Ant and Dec as much as the next person but getting another award for doing the same old thing for the last dozen or 100 years is a bit tedious. What about Dermot O'Leary getting it for a change - he was amazing on X Factor last year particularly when he confronted Louis Walsh - I was shouting at the TV "Go, Dermot go!" And, let's be honest, he's easy on the eyes!
Weekend barbecue was quite a success except for the lamb was a bit tough. However the mint - fresh out of our garden - finely chopped into bio-yoghurt, was fantastic - as well as heaping it on the lamb I heaped it on the garlic bread, salad and grilled spicy Turkish sausage. And no one got poisoned by me!
The Cumbria massacre coverage continues and I dearly hope the locals get some respite from the intruding media. What more can we possibly want to know about this Derrick Bird's life? it's become one of these tragic events that are picked over and over. Yes, the media feeding frenzy has calmed a bit but it must be hell there and people need to be left to heal.
Sunday was 'chore day' until friends popped in - where do these chores come from and why do they never end? Honestly so many mundane jobs around the house I was knackered by the time we sat down with them.
Watched Hurt Locker again with a family member who hadn't seen it - just as good as the first time despite knowing what was going to happen! The psychological tension, the violence, the suffering of war for all involved was still just as real.
Had a girlfriend on the phone Sunday night in a panic about a problem in her marriage. He likes going out and drinking a bit too much and she likes to have fun but she thinks he's overdoing it. Got to admit she has a point and reason to worry that his partying is slipping out of control.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: What to do? She has to keep being honest with him. Not bury her head in the sand. And sort out why he’s so stressed that guzzling gallons of wine is his escape. It’s tough, we all react to stress in different ways – usually we sort it. I told her just not to hide from it! So please don’t hide from anything like this yourself.
Must run to meetings, love, Pamx
