Looking for love, angry men, and laughed so hard I cried...
V disappointed - was asked to record something for BBC breakfast television this afternoon but too busy on a report. Haven't been able to do their show for ages.
Join me at 11 AM for my weekly agony slot on Dublin News talk radio - you can listen on the net and if you've got a dilemma e-mail it in.
The producer's given me the heads-up that we’re talking about a woman concerned about her new boyfriend being a recovering alcoholic and also a 35-year-old woman looking for love. The stuff of life!
Her issue makes me think of a ‘thought for today’ but first to the Inbetweeners - we had a little party to watch it last night on E4 at 10 PM. I laughed so hard I literally had tears running down my cheeks during the charity model show -one of Simon's 'man lumps' on display on the catwalk was classic! You always begin watching the next series of a favourite series with trepidation - worrying they'll fall flat - but at least the first episode's risen to the challenge.
Are you an angry man? Check out my article that's just gone live on MSN.co.uk, on the 'Him' channel. You can follow my seven steps to rein-in and manage your anger.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: back to one of the dilemmas I'll be doing on radio today - if you're looking for love never feel embarrassed about it - as evidently this woman does. There's no shame in looking for love! But there's shame in deciding you're not worthy of it or you'll never find it - stop the negative thinking.
Here are a few things I want you to do:
1/ Use the principle I call widening your circle of opportunity. Think of the small ‘circle’ most of us live our daily life in - a loop that takes us from our home, to work, and maybe to our favourite shop/pub/cafe on the way home. Well, you've got to cast that circle wider and take in new places - and you’ll meet more people. This increases your chances.
2/ Next, dump any romantic checklist and avoid thinking about your ‘perfect type’. If I hadn't dumped my own checklist I never would've married my hubby of 15 years. He didn't match one item on my checklist - I thought I should marry someone who also had children from a first marriage and he didn't have any children. But he became the best stepfather ever!
We miss out on many good people because they don't quite match up to what we think we should settle down with.
3/ Finally, definitely try Internet dating and other singles events and be ready for any opportunity in your daily life. I know of many successes from people who have tried these avenues. There's no longer any taboo about finding love this way - it doesn't make you a saddo!
Oh dear Coleen - hope you've written down some strict rules for Wayne!
Take care, Pamx
