Cold and dark, men and birth, one night stand, yummy soup...
Wow, it's about 5:45 AM and it's dark plus cold out there - have to go to hospital in a mo’ for an operation so wanted to quickly post this.
Haven't seen today's papers yet but I gave some comment for an article in today's or tomorrow's Daily Mail about men and birth - it doesn't mix for some of them! As a couple expecting a baby you need to talk about these things. You don't want any surprises as he rushes out of the delivery room when you expect him to hold your hand.
As I have to have a general anaesthetic I may not be around tomoz either - have got some great "your e-mails of the week" - would normally choose one to post Thursday - but it may be Friday.
So you still have time to get yours in - click on the "Gold Star" on my homepage.
My weekly blog on iVillage.co.uk has gone live - it's from a woman who feels she's being avoided after a one night stand. If it’s happened to you take a look.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: Be brave when feeling daunted. I'm doing that right now - hate having general anaesthetics but after a big accident I had a few years ago have had a fair a few with various operations.
Take a moment, take a deep breath, and believe you can do what ever it is.
I told you about my friend’s tasty black bean soup - got the recipe off him and I plan to make it this weekend. Here it is:
Paul's perfect black bean soup:
2 x cans or cartons of black beans (do not drain)
1 x medium onion diced
1 x green chilli chopped
3 x cloves of garlic chopped
1 x heaped teaspoon ground cumin
1 litre of chicken or vegetable stock
Juice of half a lime
coriander - root chopped, leaves for garnish Black pepper to taste Olive oil Sour cream to taste
1. Heat the olive oil and fry onions, garlic, chilli and coriander root
2. When soft add the cumin and fry for a minute
3. Add the beans with the liquid and stir
4. Add the stock and simmer for about half an hour to an hour or until it thickens
5. Blend half the soup in a liquidiser and add back to the soup so there are still some whole beans in the soup
6. Add pepper and lime juice to taste
7. Garnish with a dollop of sour cream and coriander leaf
8. Enjoy!
It’s fab served with tortilla chips or fried tortillas of your choice.
Have a great couple days, Pam X
