I wouldn't advise a male prostitute, real crime stories, the big freeze freezes plans...
I've chosen an interesting dilemma for my weekly iVillage.co.uk blog - should go live later - it's about a woman who's considering going to a male prostitute having had a ‘dry spell’ for the last few years after a long term relationship broke-up. Hmmm... I think there are other choices!
First proper Xmas party last night - got to get the recipe for these tiny little chestnut tarts that were delicious - full of butter I'm sure - as well as tiny Xmas puds in chocolate 'shells' - could've eaten a couple dozen. Minded my manners and didn't!
Turning to crime - and I love a good mystery - bring back Robbie Coltrane as Cracker! Some news stories are hard to swallow - what about the groom, Shrien Dewani being arrested over the murder in South Africa of his wife Anni... I've wracked my brain for reasons why he might be guilty. I'm convinced he isn't and that the taxi driver's fitted-him-up to get a more lenient sentence.
Why would you murder your new bride? You might think it's the 'insurance money' but evidently she didn't have an insurance policy. This one really is a mystery. The only thing that seemed slightly odd was his original press interview - he came across as quite vain and narcissistic but that doesn't make you a murderer.
Was due to go up to Sheffield today for an event tonight but sadly work-things have got in the way. And I suppose if it wasn’t bitterly cold I’d re-double my efforts to 'get the decks cleared' and get there. But it's a big freeze out there and I simply can’t afford the time to get stranded up north.
Would rather see Sheffield for the first time in good weather!
Was lovely to meet up with someone I write for at the Sun newspaper yesterday - happened to have meetings in the area so she and I grabbed a mint tea...yet again trying to cut down the caffeine.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: that's the one trouble with e-mail - you can have a working relationship for years without ever meeting the person face-to-face. Even seven or eight years ago you would've met someone who you work for.
And I think that's quite sad. Yep, of course it makes life so much easier then "back in the day" say, pre-1996 when e-mailing was rare (remember that??), but you can’t beat occasional face-to-face meets.
Must run but will put up a couple music recommendations later. So much good stuff out there. Keep warm and cosy, Pamx
