From the incredible to the scary...
After a super-tasty Indian feast last night (why can’t I cook anywhere nearly as good as that??) We watched the X Factor late – Matt was incredible - so moving - AMAZING really. Funny to read in a Sunday tabloid that he'd been out on the razz Friday night - but still Matt pulled out an amazing performance.
Wonder who's going to exit tonight? This series has been fairly unpredictable. Glad to read that Shayne Ward’s coming back with an album - having just written about the ‘X Factor Effect’ and saying that it was easy to forget past winners when their career doesn't skyrocket - he's proved he has come-back power and and wish him every success. Always thought he had an original voice.
Btw, finished Freedom by Jonathan Franzen - very disappointed with the second half of the book… if you're interested in dysfunctional characters (and who isn't a bit dysfunctional? We all are) Then it is a book for you. The problem I had was being particularly interested in Patty (the main female character) and the twists and turns of her emotional well-being. But not so interested in the others… and the story dips into the other's lives as much as hers.
Looking forward to starting the third in the "girl with a dragon tattoo" series - on my Kindle - that I'm loving. And no, I don't have shares in the company!
TODAY’S THOUGHT: I recently read about how we get a thrill from scary films, etc., but when it comes to any of the ghastly violence in this book I'll put it down for the night. Always read late at night - find it very relaxing - but not when there's one of Steig Larsson's psycho killer is on the loose.
If you, like me, find it hard to shake such images very quickly, I don't advise going to bed with one of his books.
Enjoy your Sunday while it lasts, Pam X
