Comedy, music, thrillers, and hard to heal heartbreak....
The last show I saw in Edinburgh Friday night was Russell Kane - very funny, a touch of madness in his genius! No surprises he's one of the hot new-ish things. Also Sheeps [a comedy sketch group] were quite funny - but some of the material was old hat.
Wait to get my hands on The Drums new album – lovin new tune Money... having absolutely no musical ability myself I always wonder how a band creates their own sound - you couldn't miss a Drums tune from a mile away.
Just finished CJ Sampson's Dark Fire starring his hunchbacked lawyer - and crime solver - Shardllake of the Middle Ages. It's one of those books that if you like historical references you'll like this.
It took me a couple of chapters to get into it - felt the characters were kind of uni-dimensional but then I was hooked. Defo recommend it if you like a bit of mystery, a bit of history, and some unusual characters... oh, and some gory deaths!
A good pal has just gone through an awful breakup - all the usual advice is having little effect and the best that can be done is being there when needed.
TODAY’S TIP: there's usually a normal set stages that people go through in a breakup. But if it's a messy breakup those stages don't really apply. If someone near to you is heartbroken - and it's not the right time for all the good advice you know you can give - them what you need to give is time, a listening ear and love.
Just be there for them even if it means simply listening and not giving advice. We underestimate the power of good listening.
I hope they - or you, if you're heart-broken - heal quickly.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Pam x
