Shyness can destroy chances of love, Strictly Xmas....
Got a problem with shyness? It troubles so many peeps and in serious cases can completely destroy your social life. I tackle this in my weekly IVillage UK blog that goes live today - it's from a woman who's so shy she never gets past the first date with a guy. She's desperate for love.
It was completely fab seeing some of the pre-recording of the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special last night. Dashed to the BBC straight from meetings so watched from the green room - didn't want to sit in the audience as I wasn't glammed-up - and guests were very glam. It's well worth watching on Christmas - loved Su Pollard, Charlie Brooks and Debra Stephenson....well, all of them really.
V excited as filming a TV pilot soon as a relationship expert - will keep you posted - it will be a fun show if it goes to series.
TODAY’S TIP: Back to shyness - the starting point to tackling it is to force yourself to take small steps to getting used to speaking to people. Start with your local shopkeeper - and make a little small talk.
Make your daily goal to speak to someone - shopkeepers, newsagents, tube staff - keep it simple and ask straightforward questions.
This will help build your confidence to just chat to others.
The next tip is to have ready three topics to talk about when, e.g., you randomly get stuck in a queue in the cafeteria at work with a colleague. Think about what you could say about watching the X Factor, a recent book you read, something in the news, etc.
Being prepared to talk makes it so much easier. Lots more tips in the iVillage article. Go on, get out there and start shining as a person that has left their shyness behind.
Take care, Pam x
