Lashings of love, feet-up for films...
Am sending lashings of love to my precious nephew who ended up in intensive care Stateside through a freak accident just before Christmas. And I hope you and yours are safe and sound.
Thanks for your merry Christmas e-mails - I really appreciate them! You can always email me on my homepage at "your e-mail of the week" – it’s under the ‘Goldstar’ - If you haven't noticed it I tend to post one new e-mail from one of you every Thursday with my reply.
If you're heading out to the sales today I have one tip for you - take a bottle of water and an energy/cereal bar! Nothing worse than being caught out starving and thirsty, and snapping your partner’s head off because your glucose levels have plummeted.
Can't face the sales - random household things I need are going to have to wait. Have had a feet-up, DVD-fest (the hubby’s a member of BAFTA so we're v v fortunate to get sent loads free) - watched Nicole Kidman in Rabbit hole - not a cheery tale of a couple driven apart when they lose their son in an accident.
Followed that up with Made in Dagenham - okay, so if the director hadn't been so lazy and had edited it down by about 40 minutes it would've been a sweet little film (ignoring the television-style budget production values) .
It's amazing to think what those women went through at the end of the 60s at the Ford factory - struck a blow for women's equality at work.
Then we watched Get Low - a stellar cast including Robert Duvall and Bill Murray. A very slow start but a heartfelt movie about how others see us, and we can isolate ourselves, etc.
But The King’s Speech with Colin Firth will top tonight's bill -- have heard rave reviews about it. Lurvvve a bit of Colin!
Finally finished Robert Harris’s Imperium having downloaded it onto my Kindle about two months ago - if you like a factional romp then you'll enjoy it - though I have a feeling it's more of a men's read.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: I've always known I have a masculine/tomboy side to me - but you can’t help that when you grow up with three older brothers! But I think it's good to recognise your feminine and masculine sides - don't be scared of the feminine side you might have if you're a man - and vice versa.
Here's hoping you're enjoying some feet-up time! Pam X
