Workaholicss and a secret ingredient...
Enron was as good as I expected – amazing and atmospheric sets, unique and creative choreography and although I knew the plot, it was great the way they laid it out. A touch long though.
The agony aunts conference was lively and we debated many ways to go forward with our work for separating and divorcing parents - and helping children stuck in the middle. The energy in that room was staggering!
What a fab to get a call from This Morning television asking me to come in and do an item this coming Tuesday. All top secret but it's going to be fun and involves their regular presenter Alison Hammond.
Am worried about a friend that’s dreadfully overworked. I know friends are worried about me for such reasons in the past but I try and manage my work load better nowadays. Well I'm grabbing her for a drink this evening - as the hubster is going to a comedy night that I don't want to go to (nothing against the stand-up - I actually liked his work, but it’s way out of London, going to be a late night, and I've seen his show about four times). And it'll be nice and relaxing just to have a gossip - sometimes those who are over-working just need to get away from the office for a bit.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: if you're worried about a loved one who has workaholic tendencies, you've got to look at what they're feeling insecure about. Have they suffered financially in the past? Because that often fuels a desire to never experience dire straits again. Or do they simply define themselves by their work? That's even trickier because you need to encourage them to start seeing themselves as someone outside of the job.
I'm going to whip up (with hubby's help) my signature pesto sauce for friends coming over for dinner tomorrow night. My secret ingredient is tossing in a few Brazil nuts with all of the pine kernels because it makes it creamier.
Have a lovely Friday, Pam X
