Surprises, surprisingly good books, after the affair...
Can't recall if I mentioned that I finished Robert Harris's Imperium - if you like ‘factional’ history you'll probably enjoy this narrative about Cicero as if written by his slave Tiro.
Starting Lustrum next - are there no end to Harris's talents? From Enigma to The Ghost, from Pompeii to Archangel and all his works - I'd love to have him to dinner party.
Went to surprise birthday drinks last night at the Windsor Castle in Notting Hill - lovely little pub and I'm not a big pub goer unless it's for a gig. The birthday 'boy' - or rather man - was blown away and completely surprised - had no idea so many friends had been rounded up to surprise him.
It's so grey outside I've Cee Lo Green on as I write and do a few household chores - I don't like chores and it helps to have happy music on like Cee Lo’s. I never understand people who say they find chores relaxing - are they serious? Wish I could feel that way about them!
More details of Alan Johnson’s personal devastation in the press today - as I mentioned yesterday it's awful when you're cheated on. Who knows why his wife did it but there goes 20 years of marriage down the drain.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: can you get things back on track after betrayal? Relationship research shows 60% of couples stay together after an affair. That doesn't mean they stay together ‘happily’.
If you've decided to try and make things work I've written a few articles about surviving adultery - check out my section on love and romance on my homepage. They're packed with tips - the big one being that you both have to decide to do things differently... obviously it wasn't working the way it was pre-affair.
Good luck if you're going through this - take each day one at a time.
Can’t wait as going to tasty Korean cafe for dinner tonight for a family birthday... but first the kitchen calls - I have to make those birthday brownies.
Enjoy your weekend, Pam X
