Agree the ground rules of your "break", Oscars, lame excuses and more...
If you enjoy body language analysis then I've had a big article go live on MSN UK that's about loads of celebrity couples who have got engaged - I've given them a romance rating - wonder if you'll agree?
Remember when Ross in sitcom Friends got in trouble with Rachel for having a fling while they were on a "break"? Well, my weekly iVillage.co.uk blog has gone live and it's about this very issue - except this time it's the girlfriend who had a fling during the breakup from her boyfriend. Would love to know your thoughts – tomorrow’s Thursday so I'll be posting a new "your e-mail of the week" - so get in touch and maybe it'll be your dilemma or thoughts that I post.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: lots of couples take breaks - cool things off for a time - it can work because it gives you time and emotional distance to sort things out. Just agree the ground rules! For instance, are you allowed to date other people, even sleep with them? Or is this about you two taking a little time out but no seeing anyone else?
Far better to put these things on the table - saves a lot of heartache.
Some fantastic nominations for the Oscars - top boy nomination? I'd be hard pressed to choose between Colin Firth and James Franco. Top girl? I'd have to go with Natalie Portman - though Nicole Kidman gave a fine portrayal of a devastated, off-kilter, bereaved mother Rabbit Hole.
Sorry, I can’t see how The Kids Are All Right and Winter’s Bone made the best picture list - both okay but not Oscar worthy. It's either The King's Speech or The Social Network for me.
As Conservative Lord Taylor has been found guilty of ripping off we the taxpayers I hope they throw the book at him and continue to do so to these thieving MPs. Did you hear his excuse for faking expenses? Basically he said it was the "done thing" and other Peers were doing it.
Yeah right, so because there are some burglars operating in my neighbourhood does that mean it's okay for me to go rob my neighbour's house?? I can't stand wrong doing by people who should know better but what's even worse is when they come up with lame excuses.
Btw, I met a couple lovely BBC producers yesterday at the screen test... and yup, I did prattle a bit but otherwise it was fun for a screen test and they asked lots of interesting questions. Fingers crossed - will know in any few weeks! It's weird this 'prattling thing' - I never/rarely do it on radio or live TV but, annoyingly, do it elsewhere.
Stand-up Mark Steel’s tour starts in Huddersfield tonight - looking forward to going when it's nearer to London. If you like intelligent humour, go see him.
A pal flagged up Alice Gold to me and I really like her voice probably more than her tunes - but they're interesting and atmospheric at times.
After work I'm catching up with a great pal in Soho who's just been promoted at his company - which is quite something in this recession - so we'll be celebrating with friends of his. I hope you've got something to look forward to after work - even cuddled up on the sofa with someone you love - one of my favourite ways to spend an evening. Pamx
