Today it's officially...
There’s a day for everything and today is officially "Fat day" where women (evidently more than men) feel the burden of weight gain since Christmas. A couple psychological tips include getting a slightly smaller size dinner plate to eat off of as it makes portions look bigger. Eat off of a light blue tablecloth - and even light blue plates if you can get them - because that colour supposedly switches off appetite.
And a couple goodies but old school tips include drink a glass of water before you eat and never shop when hungry.
Watched the Hereafter directed by Clint Eastwood yesterday - what a letdown after Million-Dollar Baby and Gran Torino. Also not a patch on Sixth Sense (obviously not directed by Clint but about the 'hereafter'). What happened to the mighty Clint’s golden touch? It started with an almighty tsunami scene which promised so much and then the film petered-out with lacklustre performances even from Matt Damon - a guy who usually gets it so right.
Yay for Colin Firth winning a Golden Globe last night - so deserved - you've got to see the King’s Speech despite the controversy now bubbling away around how it's smoothed over some Nazi sympathies of that era. I'll leave that controversy to the historians.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: It's also officially "Glumday" today (hey, two official days in one day - what more could you want??) where the combination of credit card bills, grey and wet weather, and Christmas and New Year's festivities seeming a distant memory conspire to make as glum. My top tip to make you happy is get on the phone or get some face-time with someone you love. Nothing beats the glums like a bit companionship or cuddles.
Loving a bit of Klaxons this morning to get me going and looking forward to seeing one of my best friends at lunch - get rid of some of the dreariness of this Monday morning. Sending happy vibes, Pam X
