Will Young is more handsome than I thought…
Walking into the 19 Christmas party last night and who should cross my path but Will Young - on TV he always looks super cute but in real life he's more handsome than cute. What a fab party - fizz and amazing food all evening - including a non-stop sushi bar. Tons of gorgeous bright young things around – eek - who could compete with the long legs and tiny skirts (obviously on trend this season). Honestly wasn't sure where hubby could look without his eyes falling on the endless legs of some super model - I do get annoyed when it's obvious where his eyes were landing - at least men should try and hide it when they're surrounded by beautiful women! But on the whole I've got to say he's pretty darn good at hiding the fact that he's noticed something like loads of models swishing around.
Didn't see any ex-Spice Girls but then again there were about four or five different rooms in the venue where people could hide out.
As we left Rachel Stevens was arriving and she’s another pint-sized poppet - all these tiny celebs - must be something about being tiny that makes you want to prove yourself - some of my most dynanmic pals are petite dynamos - wish I had their energy!
TODAY’S THOUGHT: which brings me to an acquaintance that I think (after a lot of thought - more angst really) I'm going to have to drop as an acquaintance because she's always trying to prove something - conversations are always one-way revolving around her latest accomplishment, her latest success, her latest rise/perk/etc. There's no such thing as 'mucking up' in her world and I've always thought that people who are too perfect are usually hiding deep insecurities. You might think it's harsh but if she was a real pal I'd try and encourage her to relax and let up a little. But she's not and it's not my business to do so.
Speaking of perfect - or imperfection I should say - I didn't realise that the person one of my children has started going out with in the last few months, was in our kitchen yesterday afternoon when I ran in with a load of wash to throw in the machine - my hair a fright and a face mask plastered on my face, wearing a dog-eared old dressing gown worthy of Nora Batty. Talk about being caught out - how you often look when you're charging around between household chores and trying to get ready for an evening out - but don't want to look. Oh well, it looks like they're getting serious, so this new person's just going to have to get used to what I'm like....a slob much of the time!
Well, will Rage Against The Machine have beaten Simon Cowell's schmaltzy song for Joe McElderry on tonight's Radio 1 Chart show? Simon Cowell has a massive cheek to assume that he owns that No. 1 post-X Factor slot - and as for choosing that awful song for poor Joe - his eye was really off the ball –my heart goes out to Joe!
Tonight we're off to the Hammersmith Apollo to see the wonderful Robin Ince host 'Nine Lessons and Carols for the Godless' - last year was a sell-out and this one might end up too, with lots of top comedy names in the line-up including Al Murray.
Keep warm this evening, Pam X
