The Mrs Robinson syndrome and your comfort zone...
In today's Times (T2 section, p. 3) I've written a short piece on the ‘Mrs Robinson syndrome’ - from news reports Iris Robinson situation's very complicated and goes beyond having had an affair with a lad 30 years younger. I make the point about the emotional complexities underlying such choices using a pal's experience (names, ages changed and all that, to protect anonymity). These include wanting and believing you can have it all, having overly high expectations of what a long-term relationship can give you in terms of sexual chemistry, feeling your husband doesn't understand your need to feel desirable, a certain impulsivity even if you lead an otherwise impeccable life, loving the 'power-high' you get from having a younger lover who adores you...and other factors.
Sticking with sex, in today's Daily Star you can read my ‘hot love/sex tips’ to warm things up during this big chill! Also the Pure Beauty magazine that has my quotes for getting sensual at Valentine's is now out - check it out for ideas plus loads of fab beauty advice in the mag.
I'm sooo looking forward to my weekly agony slot on Tom Dunne's radio show - last week we had some cracking dilemmas and the producer told me yesterday that we've got some equally interesting ones for today. If you have a chance, listen in on the Net after 11 a.m. - and e-mail or text your dilemma to the programme!
It's a busy day as I'm working on a feature for The Sun although that's not coming out until next week. But at least I can look forward to meeting up with an old friend for drinks this evening - we haven't decided whether to go into Soho or somewhere quieter...doesn't really matter as we have loads of 'gos' to share.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: recently I've taken myself out of my comfort zone (the mind boggles!?) but it's been a fantastic experience despite being nerve-wracking too. If you can get out of your comfort zone today enjoy the exhilarating feeling - even if whatever it is doesn't work out.
Going to help alter a fantastically crazy outfit one of my children bought (must have my fashion taste - ha ha) - it's so rare I do any sewing nowadays (who has time?) and I need to teach them a few skills.
Lots of love, Pam X
