From to Mum-in-laws to jealousy...and Oscar frocks...
Okay, so yesterday I mentioned Mother's Day and healing any riffs with your mother - well in today's Sun I've written a piece about getting along with your mother-in-law. The MIL relationship is a critical one!
What inspired this feature was Ashley Cole saying that his problems with Cheryl started when her mother moved in with them. First off, he had previous "form" of behaving badly towards Cheryl before her mum moved in. Second, they live in a mansion so it's hardly like they were going to step on each other's toes!
My article in the Sun is rather light-hearted and about getting the MIL onside for an easy life. Obviously there can be real difficulties if your partner lets their mum either bulldoze them, or interfere in your lives - that's another story!
Not that I'm a fashionista but there were some definite winners and losers on the Oscar red carpet - I've decided that Kate Winslet, beautiful woman that she is, doesn't have very good taste. The tailoring on her dress was so severe. On the other hand the simply gorgeous Penelope Cruz was swamped by her red gown. A fabulous colour but the style needed to be slimmed down a bit to show off her amazing figure. Her playful strip scene in "Nine" had my hubby's eyes nearly popping out!
TODAY’S THOUGHT: do you worry when your partner admires someone who is attractive on the big screen or on telly? I know a lot of women get het up about such things - and maybe I'm lucky that my hubby actually doesn't allow his eyes to pop out - he's very discreet - ha ha! But it shouldn't be a problem unless the man in your life makes a big deal of some attractive woman on screen in your presence. Then the problem is most definitely his and he needs to get a serious transfusion of tact.
If it’s about you and your insecurities then it's time to boost your confidence generally - with a knock-on effect for your confidence around him. In my ‘powerful living’ section there are some articles on confidence.
Am loving ITV's Married, Single, Other on Monday nights at 9.00. After some pretty duff dramas (including guilty pleasures of mine like Mistresses and Footballers Wives) this comedy drama has an excellent cast, largely fine writing, and a fantastic grasp on relationship issues.
Time to get to work. Thanks for your e-mails - have had a great response to Caroline's letter about losing her mum to cancer I posted yesterday in "your e-mail of the week". Love, Pam X
