Is there a turkey shortage I didn't hear about?
We've had a terrible time getting a turkey this morning for our Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. We went around every major supermarket and finally found a piddling 4.5 kg one when I was looking for a big mother of a bird! We're going to supplement it with a separate turkey breast of 1.6 kg. It'll have to do!
I've just been introduced to The Very Best – it's African singing that meets UK dance production - if you like listening to something different definitely check them out. Something about their music makes me happy.
Speaking about ‘happiness ‘ I'm going to be making my late mother's pumpkin pie recipe this afternoon - simply delicious and brings back loads of memories of her phenomenal baking. I don't have her skills as a cook - they missed me somehow - but still the flavours will be evocative of happy times.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: I've been missing a friend who's had to travel a lot recently - in fact she's going to be ringing me from Heathrow as she waits for a flight later today. But just because we can’t get face-to-face time, we still stay connected through rushed, ‘airport-type’ conversations, texts and e-mails - and that's important. You could just choose to let a friendship go by the wayside or you can choose to make the effort. I highly recommend making that effort - stay connected to that friend - even if life has overwhelmed the time they had to spend with you.
Well I've got to get in the kitchen and start throwing together the gorgeous spices like cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg that go in pumpkin pie, have a lovely weekend, Pam X
