Holding our breath, need something on the light side, being brave, signs of trouble...
As the world holds its breath let’s hope there won't be any further radiation arising out of the Japanese nuclear facilities. If one nationality can pull together to overcome such horrendous devastation I would imagine it's the Japanese who seem to have determination and fortitude in huge measure.
Have started reading Witness the Night by Kishwar Desai that won the Costa first novel award last year and have decided with all the horrors in the news (Japan, Libya) to put it aside for a time...there's a rather gruesome mass murder at the start. Definitely need some light reading so will be shopping for my Kindle this evening.
Amanda Holden looked so brave as she appeared in public six weeks after her losing her baby though there was a sadness in her eyes that said it all. Don't think I could've done it. She said that friends and family have been the best tonic - couldn't agree more and I'm always banging on about keeping your loved ones close. Not only for the bad times but the good ones too!
Watched Blue Valentine starring Ryan Gosling (Scarlett Johansson's ex) along with Michelle Williams as a couple whose marriage is unravelling. Liked the way it cut between the happy times when they first met with the awful times later on. Only watch it if you're prepared for a depressing movie.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: One thing it didn't make clear was what the turning point in their relationship was. Why did it go from bad to worse? Often couples find they can’t put their finger on it - although they can often put their finger on the exact moment they decide they no longer want to try... their partner does one thing that hurts or angers them beyond repair.
But surely are turning points before such moments. If only a couple could identify those before it gets too serious. Then they could try to mend what's going wrong before it's too late.
Here's hoping that any eye-opening moments you have in your relationship makes you grab your partner and tell them things have to change.
I hate to solicit ideas for "your e-mail of the week" when most people want to e-mail dilemmas but can someone please recommend a really good pillow? The pillow I've loved for about seven years has proved irreplaceable... John Lewis doesn't stock them anymore. I've already bought about three replacements and nothing is as comfortable. It was hypoallergenic with funny shaped bits inside that seemed to form a snuggly shape around your head... pure comfort!
