Families, who'd have 'em? And "Ex-sex"
Feeling a bit sick from eating a ton of REAL Turkish delight chock full of pistachio nuts that a family member brought back for me from Turkey yesterday. it's irresistible!
Had one of those schizophrenic weekends that veered from absolute pleasure - seeing friends and being cooked for - to heaps of those darned chores! Here I work as a life coach - and try to be incredibly organized - yet any free bit of the weekend slips away through chores.
If you've ended up sleeping with your ex then check out my advice in an article written by a friend on MSN.co.uk. it's so easy to end up back in your ex's bed but it may not be a good idea.
Looking forward to going with an old pal to the ‘media screening’ of ‘Step Up 3-D’ - it'll be fun. Set in the world of dancers in New York. We're going to grab some dinner and drinks after and make it a full girl's night.
Had a really interesting conversation over the weekend about family relationships. And it never ceases to amaze me how every family on this planet has problems.
We always assume that some people have, not exactly a Walton-style family life, but a pretty sorted family life. There's something about the image they give off that makes you think their family is supportive and understanding. But dig a little deeper and you find that there are problems, differences, rifts and emotional wounds in every family.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: I guess it's keeping it in perspective - when you're looking at someone else's family life or thinking about your own. Whenever there's a ruction in any part of my family tree, I try to keep an open mind to solutions. I try not to go with the knee-jerk reaction.
It's tricky - because we harbour beliefs about our family members that stem from childhood! It's hard to shake those beliefs that one member tends to be the unreasonable one of the family, or the selfish one, or e-mail it to all of the family. We all have our ‘roles’ in childhood, but when we grow up it's nice to try and break free of them.
I might do a "your e-mail of the week" on this topic later in the week (I try to post a new one of your e-mails every Thursday, Friday at the latest). I have had a fair few e-mails about family dilemmas.
